BMW Driver Comes off the Highway Due to Aquaplaning Accident on A81

Because of aquaplaning, a BMW driver loses control on the A81 in the direction of Würzburg on Sunday afternoon and comes off the road. The freeway had to be temporarily closed due to the accident.

A car left the road on the A81 between Tauberbischofsheim and Gerchsheim, as reported by the Heilbronn police on Sunday afternoon. A 34-year-old BMW driver lost control of her vehicle around 2:10 p.m. due to aquaplaning. The car then left the roadway and crashed into an embankment.

The driver was initially trapped in her car and had to be extricated by the fire department. She suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital in an ambulance. A rescue helicopter, which had already been alerted and was ready, ultimately did not have to be used to transport the injured.

According to the police, the damage to the car amounts to around 20,000 euros. The A81 from Heilbronn in the direction of Würzburg was temporarily closed for the duration of the rescue measures. The freeway is now free again.
