London –
Mauricio Pochettino understand Chelsea it will take time to click and build chemistry. But he also warned that there is a responsibility to deliver results immediately.
Chelsea are still rebuilding the team this summer, after a messy year. Last season they went without a title and finished 12th in the Premier League as a result of forming a haphazard team.
In that season, Chelsea spent heavily spending more than £600 million in two transfer windows. They recruited at least 17 players, which led to an imbalance in the squad.
The chaos led to the dismissal of two permanent managers, namely Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter. Now the Blues reset their project and appointed Mauricio Pochettino to polish the team.
With Chelsea back through the process of rebuilding the team, it will take time for it to really come together. But Pochettino wants his players to show results as soon as possible.
“This is a process that takes time, but in football you can’t ask for time. We know that we need to show results right now,” he was quoted as saying Standard.
“My message to everyone here, we are at Chelsea and we need to win. Today, not tomorrow,” he added.
Pochettino also emphasized that it takes very hard work to catch up with rivals. Clear planning and consistency in carrying it out will be crucial.
“You can’t win if you don’t build something. You can bring in names and players, there are some exceptions but in general it’s the club that wins in the end…Liverpool wins after years of hard work and consistency,” he continued.
“City are the same, after seven or eight years with Pep and Real Madrid as well. It’s important to understand, the clubs that win are the more consistent teams, work hard to come up with a plan to win.”
“Our job is to provide stability for the team in periods of ups and downs, to behave in the same way. We need to have a plan if we want to get to that point. If we get there before time, perfect. But if we don’t, we know we will get there. our goal in the end. That’s very important,” added the former Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain manager.
