Jakarta –
A month since launch, Threads still working on adding new features to complete the application. CEO Meta Mark Zuckerberg said Threads will launch two features that users have been waiting for a long time.
According to Zuckerberg’s post on Threads, the Twitter/X competitor app will have a more complete search feature and support on the web. “Search and the web are coming in the next few weeks,” said Zuckerberg, as quoted from The Verge, Sunday (6/8/2023).
The search feature in Threads is currently still very limited. Users can only use the search feature in Threads to find other accounts, not specific content.
Meanwhile Threads is now also present on the web via the Threads.net domain. But its functionality is still very limited because users can only view posts and Threads accounts.
If the user clicks the reply, repost, link, or send button on the post Threads on desktop, it will only display a QR code to install the Threads app on mobile.
When launching Threads, Meta seems to prioritize speed rather than presenting applications with more complete features. It’s no coincidence that this app was launched when Twitter/X was having problems due to rate limit rules which annoyed many users.
As a result, Threads comes with only a few very simple features. Threads users continue to persuade Meta to release standard features such as feed following, trending topics, hashtags, translations, and others.
Because the features are still minimal, Threads also began to leave users even though it had recorded 100 million new users in a matter of days. According to Sensor Tower data, the number of daily active users of Threads at the end of July fell to eight million people.
That figure equates to an 82% drop from Threads’ peak daily active user count of 44 million people just days after launch.
