Ousmane Dembélé’s Transfer Delayed: What Happened and What’s Next?

Ousmane Dembélé’s move was set to be announced on Saturday. But nothing will come of it now.

WHAT HAPPENED? Ousmane Dembélé’s transfer from FC Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain has apparently been delayed. The reason is allegedly an oversight by the Spaniards.

Like the French newspaper The Team reported, Dembélé should complete the obligatory medical check-up in Paris on Friday and be officially introduced on Saturday.

But apparently nothing will come of it. Those responsible for Barça are said to have failed to send all the necessary documents to PSG in good time.

WHAT’S NEXT? Of course, it is not to be expected that the change of the 26-year-old Frenchman will be fundamentally endangered. PSG will reportedly transfer 50 million euros for the offensive player, who is under contract in Barcelona until 2024.

WHAT ARE THE BACKGROUNDS? The Spanish Newspaper Sport also wants to know why Dembélé finally decided to leave Spain. Accordingly, the moment the former Dortmunder was traded as an object of exchange in a possible deal with Kylian Mbappé made the camel overflow.

Already on Friday, the Spanish newspaper AS reported on a conversation between Dembélé and Barcelona coach Xavi, in which the player is said to have expressed his dissatisfaction with the way the Catalans’ bosses were treating him.

“I wanted to continue here and win titles, but in a healthy environment. I keep getting shit thrown at me, they want to cut off my head,” said the Frenchman.
