Tendas, Pati (27/07/2023). Today, cases of Dengue Fever (DHF) are still being discussed. Many things trigger this DHF case, including the area of residence that has high rainfall so that rainwater can stagnate in places or used trash cans, then it can also be caused by a virus from the Aedes Aegypti mosquito which can spread the dengue virus by biting someone. infected with the dengue virus, the virus then enters the bloodstream of other people and causes symptoms of DHF.
The Tendas sub-district area is one of the areas that is still quite a lot related to mosquito growth.
Therefore, Vindi Risdiana, Student Community Service Program Team-II at Diponegoro University 2023 from the Chemistry Study Program provided basic education about the dangers of DHF to several RT and RW residents in Tendas Village by providing easy-to-implement solutions to minimize the number of mosquito bites. This is realized with an anti-mosquito spray, which is made from natural ingredients, which are abundant in the area around Tendas Village. Inside the stalks of lemongrass contains citronellal which is a substance that contains toxic properties and can kill mosquitoes so that mosquitoes will become dehydrated when they smell this lemongrass when anti-mosquito spray is sprayed into the room.
The way to make it is quite easy to do, the working procedure is first by taking the lemongrass leaves and taking the stems in the amount of 8-10 stalks, washing the lemongrass stalks until they are clean, then cutting the lemongrass stalks into small pieces, then putting them in a blender and adding water as much as 250 ml, in a blender until smooth then filtered to separate the filtrate and residue from the lemongrass stem extract. Then the stem filtrate is put into a spray bottle, the anti-mosquito spray is ready for use.

The program which was implemented on Thursday (27/07) aims to provide education on how to spray anti-mosquitoes that are practical, economical and environmentally friendly. This education program is carried out by visiting several houses of the Tendas Village residents according to their respective RT and RW so that later it will be evenly distributed with the total number of RT and RW residents in Tendas Village.
The RT and RW residents in Tendas Village really appreciate and support this activity. According to Mrs. Eka, said that “making this easy mosquito repellent spray is quite helpful in reducing the number of mosquitoes with the number increasing every day and later we will try to make it at home to be sprayed directly into the room, hopefully after knowing the many ingredients in the stem lemongrass, besides being used for cooking for villagers like Tendas Village, it can also be used for making mosquito repellent sprays. Many residents know more about simple ways to use natural ingredients around them without having to rely on other mosquito repellents that contain harmful substances.”
