The Day When the Vierzonnaise Sarah Choisy Dared to Become a Singer

The desire to sing came back last year. “Since the Covid, I realized that we only have one life. I was confronted with my father’s illness, I had a mini stroke last year… I told myself that I had to live my desires, so as not to regret later.”

And since very young, Sarah Choisy’s desire has been to sing. “At 13, I sent an audio cassette to a record company, remembers the one who studied psychology. Professionals wanted to meet me to sign me. My parents said no. In their eyes, I I was much too young. Giving up music was heartbreaking. I went back to it when I needed to recharge my batteries, to console myself. The only time I sang in public was in Tours. I was a student and I joined a gospel group. We sang a cappella.”

For a long time, singing was a refuge. A year ago, to have no regrets, Sarah Choisy decided to make it her job.

Between this gospel experience and last year, Sarah Choisy was a hypnotherapist, a school teacher… “Then I made the choice to devote myself to my family. I have three children.”

“Not to sing would have been a big regret”

Music was no more than a distant dream. “When I was a student, I accompanied people at the end of their life. Often, they left with their regrets. Not singing would have been a big one for me!”

So we had to dare. “The day I started talking about it, a first possibility opened up. I offered to sing a few songs during the Miss Mamie Vierzon competition. The public encouraged me and I said to myself that it was possible. I contacted the Café Ô Berry and the manager offered me two dates: the first in April, the second on December 9 for a Christmas concert.”

A Christmas concert in December

During the Miss Mamie Vierzon contest, the 30-year-old meets a guitarist, Chris Milan, who offers to accompany her. “Together, we prepared the first concert at the Café Ô Berry. Then, I called Méry en Fête and radio Tintouin.” Until the off of the Estivales du canal, in Vierzon, where she played place Aristide-Briand, on July 22nd. “It was just my third scene and it was up to us to capture the attention of the public. A big challenge for me. We were lucky, the public stopped and they stayed until the end .”

Parallel to the scene, Sarah Choisy recorded an EP of five titles, five original songs for which she wrote the texts. DR

She wrote the song lyrics for the EP

Parallel to the scene, Sarah Choisy recorded an EP of five titles, five original songs for which she wrote the texts.

“I had the idea for two melodies, for which Chris Milan made the arrangements. For the other three songs, I called on Beatmakers (rhythm makers) from whom I bought the exploitation rights. If I hadn’t stopped playing the piano around 14-15, I would have composed them myself. But I wasn’t patient with music theory.”

On his site, the song Jealousy is free to listen to; his EP 11.11 is on sale. Her texts speak of love, of her guardian angel who guides her, of daring to be yourself… “It was time to live a life that belongs to me and resembles me.”
