In an interview, DICE senior producer Ryan McArthur talked about one of the game’s main problems, the “expert system.” McArthur talked about the big overhaul DICE made in season 3, and the many questions players had about the expert system stemming from them not understanding how it was supposed to work.
So they had to find a way to address their needs but still allow the freedom and flexibility they wanted in the first place. This may also be the main reason why DICE finally chose to compromise with the players and adjusted the expert system to the previous unit system.
However, for players, the large number of negative reviews in the early days of “Battlefield 2042” obviously did not just come from the new expert system. Poor and unbalanced map design, unpolished game programs, and frequent bugs are all the reasons for its poor reviews at the beginning of its release.
