ANPDerk Jan Eppink during a debate in the House of Representatives
NOS Nieuws•vandaag, 02:02
Member of Parliament Derk Jan Eppink will not stand for JA21 again in the elections. He announced this via X, formerly Twitter. He writes that he came to that “conclusion” during his vacation.
Eppink is the second not to return to the three-man group of JA21 after the elections in November. Nicky Pouw-Verweij previously announced that she did not want to continue as a Member of Parliament for JA21. Party leader Joost Eerdmans stays behind.
There has been unrest within the party for a long time. In March, JA21 members wrote to the board that they are concerned about a “lack of democracy” within the party. That letter was also signed by Eppink and Pouw-Verweij.
It is not clear from Eppink’s message whether he is joining another party. He writes: “I think cooperation on the right is very important, and I want to call for it”.
