Daniel Evans Advances to Quarter-Finals of Washington Tournament

Daniel Evans (No. 9) validated his ticket to the quarter-finals of the Washington tournament on Friday, winning two sets to zero (6-4, 6-3) against Alexander Shevchenko.

The 30th ATP player in the world will now face the winner of the match between Chinese qualifier Juncheng Shang and American Frances Tiafoe, seeded No. 2.

Before his success against Shevchenko, ranked 93rd at the ATP, on Friday, Daniel Evans had dismissed Frenchman Grégoire Barrère (2-6, 6-0, 6-3).

Shevchenko had won against the American Maxime Cressy (6-3, 7-6 [8]), and defeated the American Sebastian Korda, seeded No. 8 in three sets (5-7, 7-6 [4]6-4).
