It is already late in the morning when Silvana is nowhere to be seen in any fields or roads. After her long journey she has to sleep in a lot, but whether that only has to do with the journey… “I’m not a morning person. So just start with everything. A few cups of coffee, then a nice cigarette. Recover. And in the afternoon I’m starting to get into my element a bit,” she explains.
Silvana has prepared well for her adventure, but her toothpaste is still at home. In her nightgown she visits Martijn in the restaurant of his B&B. “Good morning,” she begins enthusiastically. Diana and Martijn subtly point out to her that it is no longer morning. “Good afternoon.”
Martijn immediately falls head over heels for the camera. “I’m not going to beat about the bush. I’m only seeing Silvana properly today and there are just a lot of things that I not done and are turn offs for me. And I didn’t see that on the video.” What are those things exactly? “Tattoo on the neck. Tattoos on the fingers. Piercing through her lip. And I think it’s very strange that I didn’t notice all that.”
Nevertheless, he takes her and Diana to the massage parlor. Relaxation is not possible: it creates negative tension for Martijn. “Silvana irritates me in a natural way, while she does nothing wrong.” He can’t explain. “I think: I can wait longer with this and it is absolutely not nice to send someone away within a day. But no, Silvana is not for me.”
Martijn immediately takes the sting out when he is one-on-one with Silvana. “Now I’m going to say I really appreciate you responding and coming. And then I’m going to say something that’s not so nice… But I really don’t feel any connection or anything. I don’t feel at all at ease. I don’t know what it is, but sorry.”
Silvana is happy that Martijn is honest. “Look, I had the same feeling as you, but I thought: I’m going to see the cat out of the tree, because I’ve just been there for a day,” she tells him. “It’s a shame, but sometimes you just have to go with what’s happening and what comes your way and if it doesn’t work, it won’t work.”
And so Silvana has to leave within 24 hours. “I’ve been on the road longer than I’ve been to Martijn, but it is what it is,” she says. “Short but sweet.”
