PRAGUE – Slovak tennis player Anna Karolína Schmiedlová failed in the singles quarterfinals at the WTA tournament in Prague. She easily lost to fourth-seeded domestic Czech Linda Nosková in two sets 0:6 and 2:6. Schmiedlová lost the first eight games in the match, winning the first one only at 0:6 and 0:2. After less than an hour of play, Nosková converted her first match point.
Romanian tennis player Jaqueline Cristiano advanced to the singles semifinals at the WTA tournament in Prague after a 6:4, 1:6, 6:2 victory over eighth-seeded Ukrainian Kateryna Baindlova.
Japan’s Nao Hibinová in the quarter-finals sovereignly knocked out domestic Tereza Martincová 6:1, 6:2, and Germany’s Tamara Korpatschová defeated tournament number six Alize Cornetová from France 7:6 (3) and 6:1.
