High Prevalence of ‘Chicken Skin’ Disease in Women and Children, Says Dermatology Expert

Al-Marsad newspaper: Dermatology, allergy and laser consultant Dr. Ali Al-Omari said that women and children are more likely to suffer from “chicken skin” disease, pointing out that its prevalence rate around the world is 40%.

Al-Omari said during an interview with Al-Ikhbariya channel: “This disease is more common in women because their hair does not spread as extensively as men’s, so its appearance is clearer.”

He continued that chicken skin disease appears in the shoulders and thighs as a result of keratinization of the hair follicles and is often associated with people with eczema or asthma.
