According to Italian newspaper reports, the Scuderia will practically trash this year’s concept at the end of the season, and will come up with a new machine that looks more like Red Bull.

When the ground-effect rule system was introduced in 2022, we saw many different concepts from the Formula 1 teams. Ferrari, for example, primarily drew attention to itself with the “pool” visible on its side box, which was radically different from the others’ version.

Then, however, as it became clear that Red Bull’s “downwash” solution, i.e. the downward direction of the air currents, was the most competitive, the teams moved more and more in that direction. This is what Ferrari did as well, which launched the development with which it approached its solution at the Spanish Grand Prix in early June – although the Frederik Vasseurs have repeatedly said that I don’t think it counts as a complete change of concept.

However, according to press reports, they can prepare with it by 2024. The Italian edition of Motorsport reported that they are starting to design next year’s racing machine completely from scratch, from “blank paper”, which currently runs under the project code 676.

The paper knows that the car born from the co-production of the aerodynamic chief Diego Tondi and the engineer responsible for the new vehicle concept, Fabio Montecchi, under the direction of Vasseur, completely breaks with the mentioned side box design and takes on the characteristics of the RB19 much better.

According to the information, practically only “a few screws” will be lifted from this year’s SF-23, and in addition to the aerodynamic configuration, the entire car will be revised, starting from the body to the chassis. At the same time, the Italian press also notes that they can come up with extreme ideas at the Scuderia that “exceed” Red Bull’s characteristics.

After last year’s race victories and World Cup silver, the Maranello stable can only show three podium finishes this year, and spends the summer break in fourth place in the constructors’ evaluation.
