New Delhi ∙ An Olympic champion, 5 Asian champions, 6 Commonwealth medalists… India is heavy with expectations as it prepares for the World Athletics Championship with a line-up of superstars who have shone on international platforms. The 33-member Indian team left for Budapest, Hungary this morning. This is India’s largest contingent in the history of the championship. The matches will be held from August 19 to 27.
This time, 4 men have qualified for the world championship in men’s javelin throw, which has become a favorite event for Indians through Neeraj Chopra. Reigning Diamond League champion Neeraj gets a wild card entry while Rohit Yadav, DP Manu and Kishore Kumar Jena qualify on the basis of ranking. But except Rohit Yadav who is injured, only 3 others will compete in Budapest. Only the men’s 4–400 relay team qualified for the team events while 27 athletes competed in the individual events.
Jump is the key
