Collection Center Opened to Support Displaced People in Sinaloa Municipality

Sinaloa de Leyva, Sin.- He Municipal DIF of Sinaloa opened a collection center for citizens to show solidarity with the displaced by violence that lived in mountain communities.

In this sense, the mayor Rolando Mercado Araujo made a call to the population in general so that in each municipality they can supportespecially what they need most are necessities such as underwear, sanitary napkins, diapers, soap, among others.

He pointed out that they have a lot of clothes for daily use, with large bags of second-hand clothes, but what is really necessary is underwear, which must be new, for women, men and children.

“Right now, seeing the priority needs are women’s items, such as sanitary napkins, bras, underwear and personal hygiene items, diapers, all that kind of thing. The invitation to donate is general to the entire population of neighboring municipalities, in fact here in Guamúchil there are many churches, civil society, which are supporting a lot with dinners, and that is greatly appreciated, they have been very supportive”.

Mercado Araujo explained that as a municipal government they will begin to get involved in supporting Sebides with the issue of food, in this sense he specified that for tomorrow they will be responsible for the midday meal, they are prepared to serve 200 people.

Regarding the number of displaced people who remain in the shelter, he explained that it is floating, and the fact is that the majority do not sleep there, they go to take refuge with relatives, but they do go to this center for food.

“It is a floating population because it has varied, the first day 30 stayed to sleep, the second day 70 and yesterday 90, they come and go but return to eat,” he shared.

The municipe said that they have faith that there are already conditions for people to return to their communities, it is a matter of days, he assured

In this sense, he added that residents of El Aguajito, Carrizalejo, Haciendita de Los Miranda, left today, they hope that they find the conditions and decide to stay, they are going to check their assets, but they also value staying.

He thanked that there have been many who have shown solidarity with this population and asked those who are interested in supporting them to do so through the DIF of each municipality.
