It was a loud setting as 24,542 Hammarby supporters tried to lift their team to promotion.
Now Twente’s coach, Joseph Oosting, sees the home fans in the arena.
– It was a bit much, says Oosting to Sportbladet.
Hammarby went out of the ECL qualifiers after a big overtime drama.
But after the match, there was a lot of focus on the loud framing that the Hammarby supporters stood for.
“Sin”
After the match, Twente’s coach, Joseph Oosting, saw the home supporters.
– You could really feel the atmosphere. But it was a bit tough on us. It was a bit much. Playing football is supposed to be a party, but I felt aggression. Especially what happened at the corners, things that were thrown. I think it’s a shame, he tells Sportbladet.
Praised by the home players
Simon Strand does not agree at all and, despite the bitter exit from the qualifier, was quick to highlight the audience.
– Right now I’m only thinking about the audience. It’s so damn cruel what work they put in. They scream for 120 minutes and help destroy Twente. It is not difficult to play football when you have this crowd behind you. Magical, says Strand in Sportbladet’s broadcast.
Fredrik Hammar also praises the audience’s effort.
– First of all, I just want to say that I am so fucking proud to be part of this association today. I have never experienced anything like this on a football field and it is extremely big. It was magical. The warm-up felt like a forcing phase already there. Everyone should have a eulogy, he says.
“The away games you want to play”
Twente striker, Ricky van Wolfswinkel with a history in leagues such as the Premier League and La Liga, disagrees with his coach and says he enjoyed the atmosphere.
– These are, in all honesty, the away games you want to play as a player. Where the fans do everything they can to support their team. Of course, you hear the occasional thing that is not always so pleasant, but it also motivates you. It shows the fighting spirit of the supporters and the club. The atmosphere was very good, he says after the match.
