PEUGEOT’s best-selling B-segment SUV model is experiencing its renewal this year – more emotions, innovations and stylish elements both in the interior and exterior of the car. The model premiered at the end of 2019, and currently almost 700,000 desirable PEUGEOT 2008s have already gone to customers, which has allowed this model to become one of the most popular cars in its class. According to the figures for 2022, 17.4% of the sold compact PEUGEOT SUVs are made up of the fully electric e-2008, which in 2019 had already become the pioneer of electrification in the segment.
Production of the renewed PEUGEOT 2008 has started at the Vigo plant in Spain. Initially, three equipment packages will be offered – ACTIVE, ALLURE and GT, as well as a choice of four engines, including the completely new 115kW/156 HP Stellantis group electric motor, which will provide the electric version of the model with a range of 406 km according to the WLTP protocol. In 2024, a completely new 48V HYBRID engine option will be expected, which will provide more than 50% of driving time in electric mode in city mode. The range of internal combustion engines will include PureTech 100 with 6MT transmission and PureTech 130 with 6MT or AT8 transmission, as well as 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel BlueHDi 130 with EAT8 automatic transmission.
The new calling card for 2008 is three “lion’s claw” daytime running LED elements on each side of the front bumper, which in the GT version will be complemented by matching three LED main light modules in each of the front lamp blocks. The rear design is made up of combinations of double three LED modules placed on each side of the car, which will form a total of 12 distinctly bright horizontal LED elements, which will both visually widen the silhouette of the car and give it a rear silhouette typical of luxury sports cars with pronounced letters of the PEUGEOT logo between the light blocks.
PEUGEOT 2008 will be available in six body colors – Selenium Grey, Artense Grey, Okenite White, Black Perla Nera, Elixir Red and Vertigo Blue. The new PEUGEOT crossover four-spoke design rims give a special accent, which are visually as different from the industry classics as the PEUGEOT i-Cockpit driver’s seat concept. In all trim levels, the 2008 model will have a 10” central touchscreen as standard, but depending on the trim level, the instrument panel will be analog for the ACTIVE trim, digital for the ALLURE trim, or digital 3D for the GT trim.
For safety and driver peace of mind, high-definition front and rear 360-degree parking video cameras will be available (depending on equipment level); adaptive cruise control; automatic emergency braking when the security system detects pedestrians or cyclists in the car speed range from 7 km/h to 140 km/h, both day and night; an extended road sign recognition system that, in addition to speed limit signs, also identifies a STOP sign, a one-way road sign and no overtaking road signs. A very useful option on further journeys will be an additional lane keeping system with a touch function, blind spot warning sensors in the side mirrors and an updated traction control system with sand, mud and snow modes. For electric cars, the Free2Move eSolutions online service will be available, which will allow you to automate route planning depending on the available charging stations for electric cars.
The PEUGEOT e-2008 manufacturer provides an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty for the running battery and a certificate of its current capacity after every technical maintenance, which increases the selling value of the used car. The dimensions of the car have remained the same – 4300 mm long, 1987 mm wide with mirrors, 1550 mm high and 434 liters of luggage compartment under the decorative table.
