The owners of Bobo’s dump trucks and other actors involved in the exploitation of aggregates, customary and civil society actors, were in conclave on July 31, 2023 at the town hall of Bobo-Dioulasso, under the leadership of the PDS municipal, Adama Bidiga. Objective, raise awareness among owners of dump trucks on the payment of their various taxes.
Dump truck owners need to understand the issues associated with paying the aggregate removal tax. This is what Adama Bidiga, president of the special municipal delegation of Bobo, affirms on the sidelines of the meeting with the said owners. According to him, talks have been going on with them for a while. “Today, we thought it appropriate to invite the owners of dump trucks in the city to give them the right information”, he argues.
It emerges from the discussions that the owners of the dump trucks wanted to pay the costs of the tax in question per day, while the municipality wants them to be paid per truck load, says Adama Bidiga. But ultimately, together with the various PDS, “We had decided that the tax should be paid per day, but not at the amount proposed by the owners of dump trucks”, he specifies. Adding that very soon they will go to the scene to see the collection of these taxes. Seydou Kassamba, president of the Hauts-Bassins dump truck owners structure, talks about ” Rebellion “ because, according to him, negotiations of such magnitude should not be interrupted. He acknowledges that they were questioned about the payment of the tax in question.
The latter, however, does not fail to expose the difficulties they are going through. He says pay the aggregates up front, pay the truckload and pay the landowners. The representative of the customary said to be delighted with this meeting. The work done by the PDS and its team is remarkable. For him, in everything, talks are necessary. There were certainly misunderstandings at the level of certain actors and thanks to this meeting the gray areas were able to be lifted.
