Greek track was allowed to skip the first round in Washington as a seeded player. The Dutch number 37 in the world was paired with Liam Broady (ATP-125) in the second round. The Brit turned out to be no match for the Dutchman. After less than an hour and a half, the score was 6-4 and 6-2.
In the eighth finals of the American hard court tournament, the Greek track will compete against the winner of the match between Gaël Monfils and Alexander Bublik. This match is scheduled for the Dutch night from Wednesday to Thursday.
The victory is a boost for the Greek track. His previous performance ended in disappointment. The North Hollander was eliminated in the first round of Wimbledon at the beginning of July, after winning the Rosmalen ATP tournament two weeks earlier.
Greek track also won the ATP tournament in Pune at the beginning of this year, and is therefore working on the season of his international breakthrough. After the sof at Wimbledon, he decided to take a few weeks off and go on vacation.
The ATP tournament in Washington lasts until Sunday. Last year, Australian Nick Kyrgios was the overall winner.
