Jakarta –
Chairman of the Golkar Party Airlangga Hartarto admitted that his party would not support it Anies Baswedan in the 2024 presidential election. Parties in the Coalition for Change for Unity (KPP), namely the Democratic Party, NasDem Party and PKS, responded to Airlangga’s stance.
“We respect the political stance and sovereignty of each political party in determining their political stance regarding support for the upcoming 2024 Presidential Election. This includes the attitude and direction of political support for the Golkar Party,” said Deputy Bappilu DPP DPP, Kamhar Lakumani, to journalists, Wednesday (2/8/ 2023).
Kamhar understands Golkar’s political stance very well. He said that there were obstacles for the coalition parties in the government to get in touch with the KPP which carried Anies as a candidate for the 2024 presidential candidate.
“We can understand if there are certain obstacles for parties currently in the government coalition to join the Coalition for Change. However, we respect the choices of each party,” he said.
In line with Kamhar, PKS DPP chairman Mardani Ali Sera said that the matter of supporting a candidate for president is the right of each party. He also respected Golkar’s stance that it was impossible to support Anies.
“Everyone has the freedom to choose comrades to fight. We respect that. We pray that it’s not because there is pressure from certain parties,” said Mardani.
Meanwhile, the head of the NasDem DPP, Irma Suryani Chaniago, thinks that politics is dynamic. According to him, the 2024 presidential election is still quite long.
“Politics is dynamic, the matter of supporting or not supporting is of course the right of each political party. There is still enough time for the presidential election contest, injury time who knows what will happen, what is certain is that the Coalition for Change remains solid to this day,” he stressed.
