Insolvency Proceedings in Emsland Surge by 50% in the First Half of 2023

In the first half of 2023, 27 companies in Emsland filed an application to open insolvency proceedings. This is reported today by the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung (NOZ). This means that the number of insolvency proceedings opened by courts in Emsland has increased by 50 percent compared to the first half of the previous year. In the same period last year, 18 insolvency proceedings were opened in Emsland. Most insolvency cases between the beginning of January and the end of June, namely six, occurred in the hospitality industry. Then came the construction and manufacturing industries, each with five cases of insolvency. Throughout Lower Saxony, the number of insolvency proceedings opened by companies rose by around 12 percent in the same period. In contrast, the frequency of private bankruptcies has hardly changed. In Emsland, 178 personal bankruptcies have been filed so far this year.
