The French Gypsies, mostly from Lille and Mulhouse, have no immediate intention of breaking camp. They want to stay in Yverdon “two or three weeks”.

The Yverdon authorities have so far played the negotiation card. Faced with a fait accompli and after a long dialogue, they granted the unauthorized camp of French Gypsies to stay “exceptionally” until Wednesday at Vuagères, next to the rugby field, reports “La Région”. On site, three families and their 33 caravans have been parked there since Friday. The place, isolated by a hedge between the Thièle and the fields, is on the outskirts to the west of the city.
