FAJAR.CO.ID, WEST PAPUA — The Directorate of Special Investigation and Crime (Reskrimsus) of the West Papua Regional Police has succeeded in capturing a data breaching syndicate (illegal access) residence with the initials LA, AS, R, and VA.
West Papua Regional Police Reskrimsus Director Commissioner of Police Sonny MN Tampubolon in Manokwari, Wednesday, said the arrests of the four suspects were a follow-up to complaints from the Manokwari community with numbers LP/A/2/VI/2023/SPKT.Ditkrismus/Polda Papua Barat dated 21 June 2023.
The four suspects have their respective roles, namely R is in charge of buying a Telkomsel cellular operator starter card, and VA registers the card using an identity identification number (NIK) as well as a family card belonging to someone else.
Telkomsel cards that were registered with other people’s population data were sold by suspect AS and suspect LA to a number of starter card sales outlets in Manokwari Regency.
“We identified the four suspects. LA lives in Manokwari, and the three live in Makassar, South Sulawesi,” said Sonny.
After that, he said, a team of Sub-Directorate V Tipid Cyber DitKrimsus Polda West Papua led by Ipda Dwi Prawoko left for Makassar and coordinated with the local police.
The police then conducted a mapping of residences and arrested suspects AS, R, and VA with a number of items of evidence that were also confiscated.
“We have secured three suspects. We have also examined witnesses from Telkomsel, criminal experts, forensic experts, and ITE experts,” he explained.
He explained that the evidence secured from the LA suspect was in the form of 200 registered SIM cards using other people’s population data and a bank statement, the AS suspect had 200 SIM cards and one cell phone.
