AMD Announces Second Quarter Results and Confirms Launch of Radeon RX 7000 Graphics

AMD announced second quarter results. These were not positive due to the current computer crisis. Revenue fell 18% year-on-year to $5.4 billion, while net income fell 44% to $447 million, which is more encouraging than the $139 million loss in the first three months of 2023.

The head of the company surprisingly confirmed during the conference call that in the third quarter (i.e. from July to the end of September) AMD will introduce new mainstream graphics of the Radeon RX 7000 family. They were previously unofficially talked about in connection with the autumn and October deadline, currently there are rumors about a possible premiering at Gamescom, which takes place on August 23. However, the date of presentation of the card (or cards) and the date of sale may of course differ.

If we continue to go by the whispers, AMD is preparing two graphics – Radeon RX 7700 and RX 7800. Both are to be built on the Navi 32 chip. Like the more powerful Navi 31 in Radeon RX 7900 and above, it will use a chiplet design combining 5nm and 6nm silicon made at TSMC.

But the GPU will be smaller, cheaper, with a narrower memory bus and of course also slower. The rasterization performance should be somewhere in the area of the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 4070. But we will have to wait a few more weeks for the exact parameters and prices.
