Cleaning a moldy shower curtain can be an easy job. We show you how to proceed step by step!
Frequent wetting and drying of the shower curtain can lead to mold growth which is not only unsightly but also unhealthy. That’s why washing the curtain must be part of the usual cleaning of the bathroom.
There are two methods you can use to easily clean your shower curtains: by hand and in the washing machine set on a program for delicate fabrics. Both methods are easy to follow. For the manual washing option, you need hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, vinegar and a brush with soft bristles. Remove the shower curtain from the rings or curtain rod. Place the curtain in the bathtub, in a large basin or in a roomy sink to make the cleaning process easier.
Leave the curtain longer to soak in the cleaning solution
Soak the curtain in a cleaning solution to remove as much dirt as possible. Fill the tub with warm water. Add one cup of baking soda and one cup of vinegar. They will remove dirt and unpleasant odors. You can also apply a mixture of equal parts of water and hydrogen peroxide.
Leave the curtain for about half an hour or an hour in this mixture. During this time, continue to gently scrub the curtain from time to time to help remove stubborn stains.

Stains hard to remove? Try this method!
Sometimes the curtain needs a vigorous cleaning to remove the mold. Make a paste of equal parts baking soda and water. Use the paste to cover the moldy parts. Turn the shower curtain over and repeat the procedure for the other side to make sure it is completely cleaned. Let the paste act for about 30 minutes. Then, with a soft brush, scrub the entire surface of the curtain, paying extra attention to any remaining stains or moldy areas. Finally, rinse the curtain with cold water to remove the baking soda solution.

Be careful during the drying stage!
After a final rinse, hang the curtain to dry, on the balcony or outside the house, in the sun, if possible. Spread it out well to allow air to circulate and prevent lingering moisture from causing mold again.
Careful!
Do not hang the curtain in the bathroom until after drying, otherwise it will not dry well and the mold will return
The advantage of the method of using vinegar, hydrogen peroxide and sodium bicarbonate is that these substances are much gentler on fabrics than chemical cleaning agents.
