The board of governors of the Hollywood Academy re-elected the film producer Janet Yang como presidenta of the institution for the 2023-2024 film season, announced this Tuesday the organizing entity of the Oscar Awards it’s a statement.
Yang, born in New York in 1956, will thus fulfill his second consecutive term of one year and could even apply again in 2024 and 2025 because presidents can serve up to four courses continuously.
The 36 President of the Hollywood Academy She has been a member of the Producers Branch since 2002 and, before presiding over the organization, she served as Governor General for five years.
Last year she already became the fourth woman -after Bette Davis, Fay Kanin and Cheryl Boone Isaacs- and the second person of color -after Boone Isaacs- to hold the highest position at the Hollywood Academy.
Likewise, this Tuesday the renewal of the Academy’s board of directors was also revealed, which, among other senior positions, will now have Bonnie Arnold as president of the Members’ Committee; Howard Berger as Chairman of the Museum Committee; o Brooke Breton as chair of the Education and Outreach Committee.
The members of the board of directors of the Academy can play a maximum of two three-year terms -consecutive or non-consecutive- followed by a two-year hiatus, after which eligibility is renewed for a maximum of two additional three-year terms, up to a total maximum of twelve years.
