Japanese Defender Ayase Ueda Joins Feyenoord for Record Transfer Fee

Ayase Ueda is undergoing his medical examination at Feyenoord today, journalist Fabrizio Romano reports on Twitter. The 24-year-old Japanese traveled to Rotterdam this morning to finalize the final details of his transfer.

Romano also provides clarity about the transfer fee that Feyenoord transfers to Cercle Brugge. The team from Rotterdam pay a fixed sum of nine million euros, making Ueda the most expensive incoming transfer in club history. In addition, the amount can still increase due to bonuses of 1.25 million euros, and a resale percentage of 20% has been stipulated during the negotiations.

De Telegraaf announced last Monday that Ueda will sign a contract for five seasons in De Kuip. Ueda is seen by Feyenoord as a future replacement for Santiago Gimenez and as the one who has to replace the Mexican during the first two matches in the group stage of the Champions League. Gimenez was suspended last season and is therefore not available for use.
