Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia Kidneys are one of the vital organs in the body that function to filter toxins, waste and excess fluids in the blood and then excrete them through urine. Diseases of the kidney at first do not show symptoms even similar to the symptoms of other diseases.

Dr. Joseph Vassalotti, Chief Medical Officer at the National Kidney Foundation, said those with kidney disease tend not to experience symptoms until very advanced stages or when the kidneys fail.

While the only way to know for sure if you have kidney disease is to get tested. The following are signs that your kidneys are damaged Kidney.

1. Easily tired

A severe decrease in kidney function can cause a buildup of toxins and impurities in the blood. This can cause people to feel tired, weak, and have difficulty concentrating. Another complication of kidney disease is anemia, which can cause weakness and fatigue.

2. Trouble sleeping

When the kidneys are not able to filter properly, the toxins remain in the blood and are only excreted by the body through urine. This condition can make it difficult for you to sleep.

There is also a link between obesity and chronic kidney disease, and sleep apnea is more common in those with chronic kidney disease, compared to the general population.

3. Dry and itchy skin

Dry, itchy skin can be a sign of the mineral and bone disease that often accompanies advanced kidney disease, when the kidneys are no longer able to maintain the proper balance of minerals and nutrients in your blood.

4. Frequent urination

If you find yourself urinating frequently, especially at night, this could be a sign of kidney disease. When the kidney filters are damaged, it can cause an increased urge to urinate. Sometimes it can also be a sign of a urinary tract infection or an enlarged prostate in men.

5. There is blood in the urine

Healthy kidneys normally keep blood cells in the body while filtering waste from the blood to make urine, but when the kidney filters are damaged, these blood cells can start to “leak” into the urine.

In addition to indicating kidney disease, blood in the urine can be an indication of a tumor, kidney stones, or infection.

6. Foamy urine

Excessive bubbles in the urine indicates protein in the urine. This foam may look like the foam you see when you scramble eggs, because a common protein found in urine, albumin, is the same protein found in eggs.

7. Swelling around the eyes

Protein in the urine is an early sign that the kidneys’ filters have been damaged, allowing protein to leak into the urine. This swelling around your eyes may be due to the fact that your kidneys are leaking large amounts of protein into the urine instead of storing it in the body.

8. Swollen ankles and feet

Decreased kidney function can cause sodium retention, causing swelling in the feet and ankles. Swelling in the lower extremities can also be a sign of heart disease, liver disease, and chronic leg vein problems.

9. Decreased appetite

Decreased appetite can be triggered by many things, but the buildup of toxins due to decreased kidney function can be one of the causes.

10. Muscle cramps

Electrolyte imbalance can occur due to impaired kidney function. For example, low calcium and poorly controlled levels of phosphorus can cause muscle cramps.
