The Boston Celtics have dispensed with the services of Justin Champagnie, according to information from the journalist from The AthleticShams Charania.
Boston had to make a decision before August 1, since if they kept him after that date they had to pay him $50,000 as part of his non-guaranteed contract and, in addition, if he had been part of the team on opening day they had to add another $350,000. .
The guard-forward was signed by the franchise last April, however, he only participated in two games in which he averaged 2.5 points and 1.5 assists. In the last Summer League he registered 13.0 points, 8.3 sacks and from the perimeter he only had 30 percent success.
Thus, the Massachusetts organization now has two positions to be filled before the training camp scheduled for the end of September. They’ll also have a decision to make soon with center Luke Cornet’s non-guaranteed deal and point guard Dalano Banton’s partially guaranteed deal.
