The Viola’s Tops and Flops: Analyzing Fiorentina’s 4-0 Victory Against Grosseto

The Viola’s tops and flops in the 4-0 victory against Grosseto

After the defeat in Belgrade against Red Star, Fiorentina won 4-0 at Zecchini against Grosseto thanks to goals from Brekalo, Arthur, Sabiri and Jovic. These are the Viola’s tops and flops in the fifth outing of the preseason:

TOP FIRST HALF

ARTHUR. Deployed as a left midfielder, he proves to be at ease. After a few minutes he serves a ball on a silver platter to Cabral with a nice verticalization, but he misses. Shortly after another nice ball in depth for Biraghi’s run in the left-handed lane. Not only technique, but also a good run, like when he makes a nice recovery on a Grosseto counterattack. Rewarded by the easy goal at the end of the first half.

BREKALO Perky. He exchanges several balls with Biraghi on the left wing, but doesn’t give up on playing on the offensive front. He takes the initiative several times, putting the home defenders in difficulty. He scored the goal that opened the scoring, going up and then reiterating the ball into the net after hitting the post. If he gets back in confidence he could be an important weapon for Vincenzo Italiano.

CASTROVILLI He too, like Arthur, proves to be comfortable in the role of midfielder. He sets up, like on the occasion of the first goal, rewarding Dodo’s overlap, and makes himself dangerous several times in the first part of the match, finding excellent answers from Raffaelli.

FIRST HALF FLOP

CABRAL. There’s no need to be tragic, because we’re still in the middle of summer preparations, but in fact it’s the worst of the first half. Apart from a few banks, he fails all the (clear) opportunities that happen to him. After two minutes, he wastes Arthur’s good serve by shooting at the goalkeeper, but the most sensational opportunity remains in the 18th minute, when Raffaelli gives the ball to the Brazilian in the small box, who misses by kicking him with a practically empty goal. Not shiny.

TOP SECOND HALF

SABIRI. The only pearl of a not crackling second half is his goal from a free kick. The house specialty for the Moroccan, who beats an excellent Raffaelli with a shot that leaves him no way out.

KAYODE. Dynamic, it replaces Dodo well. A few good closes and lots of flat outs. He also came close to scoring with a shot inside the area that was countered by Raffaelli’s exit.

SECOND HALF FLOP

Italian KOAUME gives him about twenty minutes, but he never manages to make himself dangerous. As a central point he makes a lot of confusion, even making some simple supports wrong. Not brilliant, he was replaced with Jovic, who found the goal in the final by solving a confused action.

PARISI I look a bit tired. He lacks in his classic rebounds on the left ball and chain, and in fact puts very few playable balls. Maybe tiredness weighed on him too.
