An Israeli solar energy company agreed to work with a Saudi company, after signing a rare agreement between the two parties, according to the agency.bloomberg“, Monday.
This agreement is considered rare because Saudi Arabia and Israel do not have official relations between them.
The Israeli company “Solar Edge” announced a joint venture with the Saudi “Ajlan & Brothers Group” to support the renewable energy sector in the Kingdom.
“We are honored to partner with Ajlan Bros. Holding to accelerate the adoption of solar energy in Saudi Arabia,” Solar Edge said in a post on Twitter.
The newly formed company, through the project, will be responsible for power generation, storage and management for Saudi companies, according to a statement issued by it, Monday.
The agreement came a day after the Israeli Foreign Minister, Eli Cohen, spoke with the US Special Envoy, Dan Shapiro, regarding expanding Israeli relations to include more countries in the Middle East.
The United States is keen on normalizing relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia, which is not an easy process, especially due to the deterioration of relations between the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Palestinians, and the controversial judicial amendments, according to Bloomberg.
The nucleus of the project will be in Riyadh, and it aims to push local institutions in Saudi Arabia to move quickly from dependence on fossil fuels to solar energy, according to for the statement.
