Riyadh –
Hot temperatures like ‘hell’ whack Arab Saudi. Unmitigated, the heat in Saudi Arabia can reach 50 degrees Celsius!
Extreme heatwaves are still ravaging Saudi Arabia and beyond, with temperatures expected to soar by up to 50 degrees Celsius across the country from earlier this week.
According to the Saudi National Meteorological Center (NCM), a number of provinces in eastern Saudi Arabia recorded temperatures ranging from 48-50 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the temperature in the east and south of the capital city of Riyadh will range between 46-48 degrees Celsius.
Over the coming weekend, temperatures across Saudi Arabia are expected to reach 45-49 degrees Celsius, an all-time high. The temperature in Al-Ahsa reached 49 degrees Celsius, while in Dammam it rose to 48 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, the temperature in Wadi al-Dawasir and Sharoorah reached 46 degrees Celsius. In Jeddah and Qaisumah, temperatures reached 45 degrees Celsius.
Ministry of Health Arab Saudi has also issued a warning urging the public to exercise caution outside due to exposure to severe heatwaves in the coming days.
Al Arabiya quoted the ministry also urging residents to reduce to avoid outdoor activities around 11.00 to 15.00 pm local time.
Extreme heat waves don’t just hit Arab Saudi. Several countries in Europe, China, Iraq and South Korea are also experiencing the same thing.
In Iraq, the temperature even reached 53 degrees Celsius. More than 250 people have reportedly died in India, Mexico and South Korea due to exposure to hot weather and diseases related to extreme weather.
Some experts say that this increasingly extreme hot weather is the impact of climate change and rising global temperatures which are increasingly worrying every year.
