A Boston city councilwoman who has been under public scrutiny since her car crash in June will face a judge again Tuesday, this time for a hearing focused on where she lives.
Council Member Kendra Lara is expected to appear for a hearing in Boston Municipal Court, scheduled for 9:00 a.m.
The Boston Election Law Commission is holding the hearing to determine if Lara lives in the district she represents. That would be District 6, which, according to the city, includes Jamaica Plain, West Roxbury and parts of Roslindale, Roxbury and Back of the Hill.
Four residents formally challenged Lara’s residence, prompting Tuesday’s hearing.
Last month, our sister network NBC10 Boston checked multiple Boston addresses for Lara, but couldn’t find her residence. Lara told the Globe that she “can confirm unequivocally” that she lives on Saint Rose Street in Jamaica Plain.
But it’s not clear what kind of documentation you may need to provide to try to prove that.
These residency questions arose shortly after her June car crash into a Jamaica Plain home, in an unregistered, uninsured car without a valid license, in which her young son was injured, according to authorities.
Lara faces separate criminal charges for that accident.
