MemetMemetMem, English meme, is a cultural expression that spreads by imitation or copying and develops through selection. The concept is debated, and has achieved the greatest impact as a term for images and videos that are spread on the internet. (Source: Store norske lexikon) is posted on the American Twitter account – or the X/Twitter account of an American film website. It has been named Barbenheimer and consists of a poster that connects the summer’s two biggest films, “Barbie” and Universal’s “Oppenheimer”, which premiered in the US on the same day, 21 July.

The poster shows “Barbie”‘s Margot Robbie sitting on the shoulder of Cillian Murphy’s Oppenheimer character in front of a violent nuclear cloud. In a message below the poster, the “Barbie” movie’s official X/Twitter account posted the text; “It’s going to be a summer to remember” with both kiss and heart emojis.

Variety is the first mentioned the matter.

Variety is quick to point out that Robert Oppenheimer is considered the father of the atomic bomb, and that an estimated 250,000 people died in 1945 when the US dropped two bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

The Barbenheimer meme quickly went viral, but the positive response from the “Barbie” film and American Warner Bros. Pictures provoked a sharp reaction from the Japanese division of the film company.
