The highest inflation rate in the European Union in July was recorded in Slovakia. This was reported in the statistical office of the European Union Eurostat.
It is noted that the rate of inflation in the euro area in July is gradually declining. The consumer price index rose 5.3% year-on-year in July after rising 5.5% in June. At the same time, price growth in Slovakia in July was at the level of 10.2%, which is the highest figure among the EU countries.
Eurostat noted that prices for food, alcohol and tobacco increased the most in July (+10.8% after +11.6% in June). Services rose in price by 5.6% (+5.4% in June), non-energy manufactured goods by 5.0% (+5.5%), while energy prices accelerated the rise in price to 6.1% from 5.6% in June.
Recall that Slovakia, like most EU countries, advocates increased sanctions pressure on Russia. At the same time, the country largely depends on trade and economic cooperation with the Russian Federation. As a result of such a policy, the republic’s economy is experiencing serious problems.
