At least six people were killed and 75 others wounded in a missile attack by Russian troops on the southern Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih on Sunday, Ukrainian officials said.
Video posted online by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy showed smoke billowing from a hole in the side of a nine-storey building, while another four-storey building was nearly leveled, Reuters reported.
“Six people have died in Crifulo,” Serhiy Lysak, the governor of Dnipropetrovsk region, where the city of Crifulo is located, wrote on the messaging app Telegram.
Mayor Oleksandr Vilkul said the dead included a 10-year-old girl and her 45-year-old mother.
Reisak added that as many as 75 people were injured, including six children between the ages of 4 and 17.
Zelensky, who grew up in Clifello, a city of more than 600,000 people before Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine, said a residence and a university building were hit in today’s Russian airstrike.
“This kind of terror will not frighten or defeat us. We are trying to save our people,” Zelensky said on Telegram.
He also mentioned that more than 350 rescuers were involved in the rescue operation, trying to rescue people under the rubble of trapped buildings. (Translator: Chen Yanjun) 1120801
