EPIRUS REGION
After the decision, on Thursday night, of the Political Secretariat of SYRIZA to give the “anointing” to Yannis Stefos to claim the leadership of the Region of Epirus in the upcoming self-governing elections, came his official announcement that he will be a candidate.
In a statement issued by Mr. Stefos, he states that his goal is to get Epirus out of isolation and underdevelopment and become a place to live. In fact, Mr. Stefos said that in the next few days the faction’s candidates for regional councilors will be announced.COMMUNITY OF CONTINENTS»
The announcement of G. Stefos on his candidacy in detail:
“In October 2023, over 300,000 Epirotians will decide to whom they will entrust the future of Epirus for the next 5 years.
After the announcement of my person’s support by SYRIZA – PE, I am happy to announce, and officially, my decision to run for the leadership of the Region of Epirus in the upcoming local elections.
The “COMMUNITY OF EPIROTS”, our faction, with continuity, consistency and honesty, combativeness and vision, in the name of Epiros, will highlight the possibilities that our country has to get out of isolation and underdevelopment and will fight to make Epirus place to live Long-term planning is needed, proposals and collaborations with the Municipalities and citizens are needed to chart a new path for our region.
Our basic principle is the emphasis on development, the respect and protection of natural wealth, the improvement of everyday life and the quality of life of citizens in a just society, the promotion of our cultural heritage, democracy and transparency in management, accountability to the citizens.
We do not expect central government to guide our priorities, nor will we hide behind the weaknesses of the state. Unfortunately, Epirus lags behind in all development indicators. Most recently in Greece, most recently in Europe. So, we will claim the resources and implement the projects and actions that will get us out of this lag.
The “COMMUNITY OF THE CONTINENTS”, in the next few days, will publicize our candidate regional councilors-fellow citizens who know the issues of self-government, who fight in the movements, who act in society – their programmatic positions and a promise : Epirus is the responsibility of all of us to change and for that we will fight with all our strength.”
