A lorry driver has been confirmed dead after the lorry he was driving hit a footbridge at Olsvik in Bergen.
The entire footbridge fell down and came to rest on top of the truck’s cab. There have been no reports of injuries to other people or that other vehicles have been involved in the incident.
The police write in a press release that a man in his 50s died in the accident. His next of kin have been notified.
– Work is still ongoing at the site by the emergency services and others. The road will be closed for a good while in the future, unknown for how long. There are detours in the area, says operations manager Knut Dahl-Michelsen in the West police district.
The police were notified of the incident at 9.36am.
