Diana was known for her warm personality. On August 31, 1997, she died at the age of 36 when her car crashed into a Paris tunnel while fleeing paparazzi.

Princess Diana once started a fun birthday tradition that her sons William and Harry according to her former confidant julia samuel continue today. Samuel was also one of the godparents of William’s eldest son George.

“I do it with George today like Diana did with us back then. I give him impossible gifts that are really loud and have lots of parts,” Samuel said on the How to Fail podcast. “William then spends days assembling it. And when you’ve done it, it makes horrible noises and lights flash.”

Diana would have liked George, her former friend believes: “He’s funny and lively and cheeky and, God, she would have loved him so much,” says Samuel.

Princess Diana died on August 31, 1997 at the age of 36 when her car crashed in a Paris tunnel while fleeing paparazzi. William and Harry – once a tight-knit duo – have now grown estranged.

Nonetheless, both have never left any doubt that they don’t blame their mother’s drunk driver for their death, but rather the media that incited them. However, their assessment differs significantly in the proportion that the royal family had.
