Quoting Kompas.com, this was revealed by an astronomy and astrophysics researcher at the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Clara Yono Yatini.

Clara revealed, supermoon is a phenomenon that occurs when the full moon is at the closest distance to the earth.

“This happens because the moon’s trajectory around the Earth is not perfectly round, rather elliptical (oval),” explained Clara to Kompas.com, Sunday (30/7/2023).

During a supermoon, the moon will appear larger, closer, and brighter than usual.

“A full moon occurs when the moon is directly opposite the sun, Earth between them,” explains Clara.

This condition causes the entire surface of the moon facing the Earth to reflect sunlight.
