New Delhi – BJP MP and current president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who is facing court proceedings on allegations of sexual harassment of wrestlers, has started a move to regain power of the National Wrestling Federation (WFI). He claimed that representatives of 22 state governing bodies participated in the meeting he called yesterday.
There are a total of 25 state wrestling committees. He also stated that he will announce his ‘candidates’ for various posts today. The National Federation election is on August 12. The deadline for submission of papers ends today.
Brij Bhushan, who has completed 12 years at the helm of the National Wrestling Federation, cannot compete this time. In the wake of the sexual assault complaint, the administration of the federation was left to an ad hoc committee. The election process started under their leadership.
Brij Bhushan’s daughter’s husband Vishal was planned to run for the post of President, but he backed out. Those opposed to the Brij Bhushan Sangh also held a meeting yesterday to discuss election moves.
