France’s top striker Karim Benzema still on fire. Benzema scored the goal to win Al Ittihad over CS Sfaxien 1-0 in the Arab Club Champions Cup 2023.
Benzema led Al Ittihad when they hosted Sfaxien in the Group A match which was held at the King Fahd Stadium, Monday (21/7/2023) WIB. Al Ittihad’s winning goal was created by the former Real Madrid bomber in the 63rd minute.
Al Ittihad had the advantage after Sfaxien played with 10 men following a red card received by Hussein Ali five minutes before halftime. The player with the number 10 back stepped on the opponent’s face so the referee sent him away.
Al Ittihad took advantage of this situation after the restart. The 2022 Ballon d’Or winner scored a beautiful goal against Sfaxien.
After Sfaxien’s defense swept the cross Al Ittihad from the left wing, the ball was headed by Abderrazak Hamdallah in the goal. Benzema controlled the ball with his left foot, turned his body, then finished with a low right footed shot that lodged in the bottom corner of the net.
The goal against Sfaxien was Karim Benzema’s second in his second game for Al Ittihad since joining this summer. Benzema’s score is getting shiny with one additional assist.
With the winning goal scored Benzema Meanwhile, Al Ittihad has the right to top the Group A Arab Club Champions Cup 2023 standings. The Jeddah club has collected six points from two matches, two points ahead of Al Shorta. In the next match, Benzema cs will travel to Al Shorta’s cage on August 2.
