Said sentence was carried out by way of acceptance of charges against former minister Mario Roberto Rojas Espino “for the crime of using falsified documents,” confirmed the Public Ministry (MP).

Rojas Espino, who is the brother of deputy Anibal Rojas Espino, “presented for the candidacy for deputy of the Central American Parliament (Parlacen), false criminal and police records,” said the MP.

Rojas Espino resigned from his position in October 2022. The law indicates that no official can be a candidate for any public office, for this reason, everything indicated that he would run.

Mario Rojas Espino was the one who, at the time, tried through a bill to unite all the institutions related to the environment to form a “Super Ministry of the Environment.”
