Two Ukrainian drones have hit two skyscrapers in Moscow, where government offices are located. This was confirmed on social media by the mayor of the Russian capital, Sergey Sobyanin.
He reassured that the damage was only material and no one was killed or injured.
The airspace of Moscow was temporarily closed on Sunday after two drones were shot down in the capital area. This was reported by TASS. The Russian state agency referred to the capital authorities.
Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport is temporarily closed for takeoff and landing flights.
Planes are diverted to other airports.
The emergency services reported and for an explosion in one of the skyscrapers of Moscow’s IQ district, located in the “Moscow City” business center. The building was evacuated, but the incident did not result in casualties or serious damage.
The mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, however, revealed that unmanned aircraft hit two buildings in the “Moscow City” business center.
“Tonight there was an attack by Ukrainian drones. The facades of two office towers in the City were slightly damaged. There were no casualties or injuries,” reads a post on the official Telegram channel of the Moscow mayor.
According to Telegram channel 112, one of the drones is broke in between the 6th and 7th floor on one skyscraper.
At the second building, judging by the photos from TASS, they are first few floors damaged.
The blast wave swept away the office the documentation of the Ministry of Digital Developmentwhich is located in the government complex in the IQ-quarter on the territory of “Moscow City”.
In total, the Government Complex houses the offices of seven agencies and ministries, according to the IQ-Quarter website.
According to TASS, a temporary restriction on the presence of any aircraft in the air has been introduced in the air zone of Moscow.
