VinFast Begins Construction of Electric Vehicle Factory in North Carolina

The VinFast project is the first electric vehicle production plant in North Carolina and the largest economic development project in state history to date.

The groundbreaking ceremony took place in the presence of the Governor of North Carolina, Roy Cooper, and the Vietnamese Ambassador to the United States, Nguyên Quôc Dung.

The VinFast plant in North Carolina represents a total investment of 2 billion USD for the first phase, covering an area of ​​733 ha.

In its first phase, the plant will focus on the production of electric car models VF 7, VF 8 and VF 9 with a planned capacity of 150,000 vehicles/year.

The plant is expected to come into operation from 2025.

At the event, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper said the VinFast plant will create thousands of good jobs for people in his state, as well as a cleaner environment when more electric cars appear. in the streets.

On the same day, VinFast and Black Spade announced that the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) has declared effective the registration statement on Form F-4 of VinFast in connection with its proposed business combination. businesses with Black Spade.

Black Spade has scheduled an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (AGE) to approve the proposed business combination with VinFast, which is to be held on August 10, 2023.

The business combination values ​​VinFast at an enterprise value of $27 billion and a net worth of $23 billion.
