The Suwalki corridor is of strategic importance for NATO countries and is one of the hottest spots in Europe.
Part of the mercenaries of the Russian PMC Wagner in Belarus was sent towards the Suwalki corridor. It unites Poland with the Baltic countries and separates Belarus and the Kaliningrad region of Russia. This was stated by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, RMF FM reports on Saturday, July 29.
“Now the situation is getting even more dangerous. We have information that more than 100 mercenaries of the Wagner group moved towards the Suvalsky Isthmus near Grodno in Belarus,” Morawiecki said.
In his opinion, this is “a step towards a further hybrid attack on Polish territory.” Morawiecki suggested that the “Wagnerites” would probably be disguised as Belarusian border guards, help migrants enter Poland illegally and destabilize the situation in the country. And the mercenaries themselves can also try to penetrate Polish territory.
The Suwalski corridor is of strategic importance for the NATO countries. This territory connects Poland with Lithuania and other Baltic countries and at the same time separates the Kaliningrad region from Belarus. According to the US military, this corridor is one of the most potentially hot spots in Europe.
As you know, 13 columns with “Wagnerites” have already arrived in Belarus. We are talking about thousands of mercenaries and hundreds of units of various equipment, mainly cars and light armored vehicles.
