“With the aim of supporting the defense capabilities of the countries of the continent, we are developing a partnership in the military and military-technical field,” Putin said on the second and final day of the summit.
“Russia has signed agreements on military-technical cooperation with more than 40 African countries, to which we supply a wide range of weapons and equipment.”
Putin said that African countries received weapons and technology, some even for free, “with the aim of supporting the security and sovereignty of these countries.”
00:10. After Russia’s withdrawal from the Black Sea “grain deal”, Latvia should take the lead in securing a transit corridor for Ukrainian grain exports, the Latvian Stevedoring Companies Association (LSA) said.
The capacity of Latvian ports already allows to ensure at least 20% or 15 million tons of Ukrainian grain export, while neither Lithuanian nor Polish ports have such capacity, the association emphasizes.
By carrying out all the necessary procedures for the creation of such a transit corridor as soon as possible, including providing a green corridor for Ukrainian cargo, Latvia would be able to help Ukraine overcome the grain export crisis caused by Russia’s actions, which poses an increasingly catastrophic threat to the food supply of African countries. It also restricts Ukraine’s economy, emphasizes Ivars Landmanis, chairman of the LSA council.
