Live text broadcast – short and concise about the most important things in the war in Ukraine on July 29. Ukraine has been heroically defending its land against the aggressor’s invasion for more than a year.

14:25. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi visited the front lines of the Ukrainian Army near Bakhmut on Saturday, where he congratulated the soldiers of the Special Operations Forces on their professional day.

“Bahmut direction, forward positions of the Special Operations Forces. Today I am here to congratulate our soldiers on their professional day, to honor their strength. Heard the commander’s report, talked to the soldiers. Very strong, very productive. Thank you!” writes Zelensky on social networks.

13:00. Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, dozens of extremists from Germany have gone to the war zone to fight on Russia’s side, the German Ministry of the Interior announced in response to questions from the newspaper “Die Welt”.

In the forthcoming Sunday publication of the newspaper, which DPA has seen, the ministry is quoted as saying that security authorities have registered the departure of 61 people “who are linked to extremism or politically motivated crimes”.

For 39 people, there were factual indications that they had left the country with the intention of participating in hostilities. Of them, 27 were pro-Russian and 12 pro-Ukrainian.

11:30. Ukrainian artillery uses ammunition produced in North Korea to fire at Russian positions, reports the newspaper “Financial Times”.

The North Korean-made projectiles, the use of which was previously unknown in Ukraine, were shown to newspaper journalists by the soldiers who fired at the Russians from the Soviet-era “Grad” missile system near Bakhmut.

10:20. The loss of Russian troops in Ukraine has reached 245,220 soldiers by Saturday morning, according to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Army.

According to the data of the general staff, 390 invaders were destroyed during the day.

09:00. Russia has signed agreements on military cooperation with more than 40 African countries, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Friday at the second Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg.

“With the aim of supporting the defense capabilities of the countries of the continent, we are developing a partnership in the military and military-technical field,” Putin said on the second and final day of the summit.

Russia has signed agreements on military-technical cooperation with more than 40 African countries, to which we supply a wide range of weapons and equipment.”

Putin said that African countries received weapons and technology, some even for free, “with the aim of supporting the security and sovereignty of these countries.”

00:10. After Russia’s withdrawal from the Black Sea “grain deal”, Latvia should take the lead in securing a transit corridor for Ukrainian grain exports, the Latvian Stevedoring Companies Association (LSA) said.

The capacity of Latvian ports already allows to ensure at least 20% or 15 million tons of Ukrainian grain export, while neither Lithuanian nor Polish ports have such capacity, the association emphasizes.

By carrying out all the necessary procedures for the creation of such a transit corridor as soon as possible, including providing a green corridor for Ukrainian cargo, Latvia would be able to help Ukraine overcome the grain export crisis caused by Russia’s actions, which poses an increasingly catastrophic threat to the food supply of African countries. It also restricts Ukraine’s economy, emphasizes Ivars Landmanis, chairman of the LSA council.
