JAKARTA – How to lower blood sugar for sufferers diabetes can be done in a short time, namely 24 hours. One of them is by diligently exercising, which according to research shows that physical activity is effective in lowering glucose.

Reporting from Express, Saturday (29/7/2023) Dr. Deborah Lee from Dr. Fox Online Pharmacy said that for sufferers diabetes with or without insulin, exercise can decrease blood sugar .

“The glucose-lowering effect of exercise continues for 24 hours after you finish,” says Dr Lee.

Regular exercise can help you achieve and maintain a moderate weight and improve insulin sensitivity. Improved insulin sensitivity means cells can more effectively use the available sugar in the bloodstream.

Exercise also helps your muscles use blood sugar for energy and muscle contraction. If you have problems with blood sugar management, consider checking your levels regularly before and after exercise.

This will help learn how you respond to various activities and keep your blood sugar levels from getting too high or low. Some of the recommended exercise includes light walking or simple resistance exercises like squats or leg lifts.

Other suggested sports include weightlifting, brisk walking, running, cycling, dancing, hiking, swimming and more. In fact, any activity that regularly gets you up and moving and beats a sedentary lifestyle is good for your health.

Reporting from Health Line, if you have trouble exercising all week, you can still get a lot of benefits by doing shorter sessions. For example, try exercising 10 minutes three times a day for five days, aiming for 150 minutes per week.

“You don’t need to run marathons to get results. Walking, swimming, and playing with grandkids are great ways to get exercise,” explains Dawn Sherr, RD of the American Association of Diabetes Educators.

However, exercise should be avoided if you have ketones in your urine, which can be a medical emergency.
