Two new tracks have been uploaded to an account believed to belong to the electronica pioneer.
There’s new music from Aphex Twin again! Or supposedly from Aphex Twin, it should be in this case. A Soundcloud profile, behind which fans suspect the eccentric producer and DJ, has shared two new songs. An accompanying message should give an indication of their authenticity.
For a number of years, part of Richard D. James’s fan community, the artist’s real name, has believed that he is behind the previously anonymous profile user18081971 stuck on Soundcloud. Although this could not be checked so far, the style of the tracks posted there allow the assumption. The song titles also seem suspiciously James’ special. The two new titles that appeared there on Thursday (July 27th) are called “Short Forgotten Produk Trk Omc” and “2nd Neotek Test Trac Omc”. The respective description of the two uploads should also indicate James. There it says: “For everyone who loves me [persönlich angeschrieben] have”.
If you also want to guess whether the two tracks are actually Aphex Twin, you can listen below. The timing of the upload could also point to James. Just one day later, on July 28th, the sound inventor released his new EP BLACKBOX LIFE RECORDER 21F / IN A ROOM7 F760. Back in June, James announced his first musical sign of life in five years.
