The Latest Updates and CBT Schedule for ‘Path of Exile 2’: A New Hack and Slash Game by Grinding Gear Games

The latest information and CBT schedule of ‘Path of Exile 2’, a new hack and slash currently being developed by Grinding Gear Games, was released today (29th) through ExileCon.

At this Exile Con, the developer personally demonstrated ‘Path of Exile 2’ and had time to introduce new systems that had not been revealed before. Prior to the full-scale introduction, Grinding Gear Games announced a change. ‘Path of Exile 2’, which was originally scheduled to be released as an expansion pack concept for ‘Path of Exile’, was changed to a separate game rather than an expansion pack after 4 years of development.

Regarding this, Jonathan Rogers, chief technology officer in charge of introducing ‘Path of Exile 2’, said, “After 4 years of development, the scale of the game has grown even more.” I had no choice but to turn it into a separate game with separate mechanics, balance, and leagues.”

However, they are not completely separate. Excluding the sharing of the same client that was previously announced and the exclusive skins that are only available in ‘Path of Exile 2’, such as the druid’s bear skin, the fact that the skins purchased in the previous work can be used in ‘Path of Exile 2’ is also maintained. do.

Jobs have also changed. In addition to the six existing Witch, Shadow, Ranger, Duelist, Templar, and Marauder classes, six new classes have been added: Warrior, Huntress, Sorceress, Mercenary, Monk, and Druid. As there are 3 former classes for each job, there are a total of 36 former classes. Through this, it was expected that there would be as many different builds as classes.

The combat system unique to ‘Path of Exile 2’ was also extensively introduced through Exile Con on the same day. One of the most notable changes is the addition of an evasion system. Roll avoidance has been added to all jobs, so you can use it freely because there is no cooldown. It seems to be used in a variety of ways, from avoiding enemy attacks to breaking skills with long cast times.

Regarding the crowd control mechanism, an internal gauge element has been applied to expand its usability, and ‘mental strength’ is added as a new resource to all characters. Spirit is a dedicated resource used for abilities that grant lasting effects, such as heralds, auras, and summons. The dual specialization feature of the passive skill tree is also a noteworthy change.

By allocating some passive skill points to two different skill sets, it is expected that a more colorful build will emerge as synergistic effects can be created by combining skills of different attributes and types.

‘Path of Exile 2’, which supports 100 unique bosses, 600 types of monsters, over 1500 skill trees, 36 former classes, and party play of up to 6 people, is scheduled for CBT on June 7, 2024.
